Welp, I’ve made it another year, completed my 24th trip around the sun.
I don’t have a lot to say. These last couple years in this pandemic haven’t been the most productive for me, career-wise or socially, if I’m being up front. What they have been, for lack of a better word, is humbling. Not that I think I was cocky before the pandemic or anything. I just feel like these last couple years stuck inside my house watching the world around me has kinda emphasized/beaten in things I was thinking when I was on my way out of undergrad.
I think it is really important to value others. We do not exist alone. We do not live our lives in solitude. We may not always have friends around us, and I believe there truly are battles that people face alone, but our lives are always connected to other people. You don’t succeed in life without someone somewhere looking out for you or thinking about you. People don’t have to be kind to you. They don’t have to talk with you, help you, play games with you, or any of that. They do that stuff because they want to. If someone helps you, thank them. If someone hangs out with you, online or offline, let them know you appreciate them. Give people their flowers while they’re around.
I’m saying all that to say this - It’s my birthday today. If we’ve played games together, talked about stuff, or anything like that, recently or not, just know that I appreciate that. I thank you for rocking with me. I thank you for being kind. If you want to do something for me in honor of my special day, go tell someone you love them. Tell yourself “I love you”. Just be kind to people.
Also, listen to MF Doom.
