Unlike the rest of the world, this pandemic has mostly been a time for me to step up my involvement with fighting games rather than take a step away from them. Being stuck at home meant I had access to a wired connection instead of dorm WiFi, so I’ve netplayed a lot over the course of the pandemic.
Most people took the absence of offline events as a hit to their motivation to play the genre.
Welp, I’ve made it another year, completed my 24th trip around the sun.
I don’t have a lot to say. These last couple years in this pandemic haven’t been the most productive for me, career-wise or socially, if I’m being up front. What they have been, for lack of a better word, is humbling. Not that I think I was cocky before the pandemic or anything. I just feel like these last couple years stuck inside my house watching the world around me has kinda emphasized/beaten in things I was thinking when I was on my way out of undergrad.
I play a lot of video games, but online card games have been the most convenient for me to play in these last couple months. I’ve gotten to try out a lot of different decks, so I thought I’d post an update talking about the ones I’m playing right now.
Normal Summon Aleister Thunder Invoked So the first deck I’m gonna talk about is my main deck on Master Duel - Invoked Thunder Dragons.
During these past few months, the newest Super Sentai series, Donbrothers, began. My history with Sentai is way more on and off compared to my time with its sibling series, Kamen Rider. While I’ve generally consumed Kamen Rider content like an addict, I’ve only lightly dipped into Sentai and have yet to actually finish a series at the time of this writing. I got 9 episodes into Zenkaiger, which I honestly did enjoy a lot.
I’ve been playing a lot of card games, mainly Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel and Shadowverse. It’s been a long time since I’ve played card games like that, so I decided to go ahead and ramble about em.
The Heart of The Cards My YGO GOATS Like a lot of folks my age, I grew up on the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime. I have so many fond memories of watching Yugi and company go through Duelist Kingdom and Battle City, Jaden and his pals rep the Slifer Red dorm, and Yusei and his buds play card games on motorcycles.
Back in March of last year, I started playing Dungeon Fighter Online on a whim since it was free. It has since become one of my favorite games, period.
Fighting Dungeons Online I’ve mentioned DFO on here before, but that was mainly in passing while talking about my enjoyment of the DNF Duel open beta on PS4 near the end of last year. Since then, I’ve started going a bit harder on the game and felt like gushing about it properly.
