Manyuu Hikenchou So, back around 2012, this anime called Manyuu Hikenchou came out. This show was about a Feudal Japan-esque setting with the twist that the size of a woman’s breast quite literally determined her lot in life. Prestige, political power, etc etc was all dependent on the size of her Bazongas. You got tig ole bitties? You living the high life. You’re flat as washing board? They treat you how most White Americans want to treat Black people.
It’s been a while since I last posted, and in that time, some manga I had been reading ended and I also picked up/started back reading some others. I got some thoughts, so it’s time to get back at the keyboard.
My Hero Academia First things first, congratulations to Kōhei Horikoshi on ending My Hero Academia. That series lasted a literal decade(July 2014 to August 2024) and really made a big splash over there in Japan and here in NA.
It’s been a very enjoyable ride, but all good things come to an end. Heir to Steel Armor came to a close today after 12 great episodes. It’s been great to watch Garo in real-time on a week to week basis, and I have a lot of thoughts I wanna get out of my head. Now, since none of my friends like Garo, that means it’s time to bust out the ole keyboard and get to rambling on here.
How This All Started So, back in December, Under Night 2 had an open beta on PSN. It gave me the French Bread itch, and I knew I wasn’t going to have the game on release, so I started playing a lot more of Melty Blood Type Lumina. Now, this gave me the Type-Moon itch, so I finally watched Fate/Stay Night : Heaven’s Feel. It reminded me how much I loved Fate, and it since I wasn’t playing Genshin like that, I downloaded Fate/Grand Order.
This is a tough one, man. It only gets tougher every time, too. Last night, news broke that Akira Toriyama passed away back on March 1st . This is a very tough pill to swallow. It means a lot to me to see people who helped mold me into the person I am today live out their lives and be happy, especially these last couple years where I’ve been able to see various older Hip-Hop heads do simple things that truly make them happy, so losing the guy who is responsible for such a large part of my childhood and, quite honestly, my participation in most of my hobbies is just too much, man.
2024 is here, and it has blessed us all with a new Garo series. Titled Garo: Hagane o Tsugu Mono, which can be taken as something along the lines of “The One Who Inherits Steel/Inheritor of Steel”, it celebrates the 10th anniversary of Garo: The One Who Shines in the Darkness. Of course, this means we get a new season with Wataru Kuriyama returning as Dougai Ryuga.
The Actual Episode It’s only episode 1, so obviously not everything has been laid out for us, but this was a solid reintroduction to Ryuga that also didn’t waste time if we already knew him.
I’ve been a fan of anime damn near all of my life. Still, I formally became a real fan around 2012. Around this time, the print Shonen Jump magazine in america decided to axe its print version and go digital as Shonen Jump Alpha. I had gotten a couple of issues before, and saw that a yearly sub was 25 bucks and got my mom to keep my sub going as long as I kept grades in school up.
It’s been a pretty good year for fighting games, and really games in general. We had the release of Street Fighter 6 & GBVS: Rising, betas for SamSho, UNI2 and DBFZ rollback, a beta for Tekken 8, some cool DNF Duel & KOF XV character releases, and a bunch of cool events.
The Quality of Releases Now SF6 did a lot of good things in its release. It’s got a godlike training mode, a decent single player mode that lets people learn more about their favorite fighters, some sc-inspired character customization, the works.
Lately, fate would have it that I would once again be immersed in the marvel universe. Like a lot of people my age, I came up with and watched the X-men movies from FOX and the Marvel movies from Disney. After seeing Deadpool and Avengers Endgame, I figured my time with the marvel universe would be done for a long time, but I caught the comic book bug and here we are.
Back on Dec 1st of this year, The God of high School published its final chapter for everyone to see. I’ve been following the series for about 2 years now after a buddy of mine introduced me to it(along with the awesome app Tachiyomi , which I used to read it). GOH is easily one of my favorite series. I got hooked right from the first chapter. It’s not perfect by any means, but I got love for this series from the bottom of my heart.
